Jumpstart your Leadership: 10 Jolts to Leverage Your Leadership – Book Review

jumpstart_1Ten Key Concepts that will Increase Leadership Effectiveness and Results

Popular speaker and leadership development expert Shawn Doyle CSP addresses leaders, mangers, and entrepreneurs in his book Jumpstart your Leadership.  He introduces the reader to 10 key principles or building blocks for improving leadership skills and leadership teams.

The reader friendly format includes a “nutshell” preview of each chapter, which are described as “jolts to jumpstarting your leadership.” These are followed with chapters packed with concise, clearly stated, do-able tools and techniques for becoming the leader people want to follow.

Each chapter begins with a quote, citing sage advice for reflection, assimilation and implementation as well as for application and training. The material is presented in a natural progression beginning with a look at your mission and vision statement moving on to developing both a short-term and long-term plan. The next chapters cover team building, including: Guidelines for recruiting, developing and effecting training programs, and communication, creativity, motivation, and leadership skills. The concluding chapters deal with personal opportunities, and the importance of authenticity.
