Reinhard Bonnke Good News Orlando Event

Reinhard Bonnke Good News Orlando Event Recap by Larry Sparks

This past Friday, I attended what many believe was a truly significant event in the spiritual history of the United States—Reinhard Bonnke’s first Good News Crusade. Friday marked the first of two evangelistic crusades that took place in Orlando, Florida at the Amway Arena. Over 10,000 people were gathered in the arena and there was an undeniable sense of expectation that God was going to move mightily.

Expectation would quickly meet reality!

The Vision: “America Shall Be Saved!”

Backing up a little, it is important to know the history behind these initial crusades and Bonnke’s overall strategy for America. Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke is a man of great intentionality. His shift of focus from international events to America is not some attempt to start a crusade ministry in the United States as a means of generating ministry exposure, promoting a book release, or create some new stream of revenue. Bonnke is driven by a powerful vision straight from the heart of God.

His vision? Go from state to state, city to city, and from coast to coast, preaching the Gospel in as many venues as possible. Just as he received the soul-stirring vision that “Africa shall be saved,” now, he is certain that it is time to reap the great harvest of souls in the United States. Bonnke senses down in his heart that “America shall be saved.”

Based on the first fruits of Orlando event, Bonnke’s vision does not appear to be far off. It is recorded that 1908 people made a decision for Jesus Christ over those two nights!

The Gospel Thundered with Power…

Watching and listening to Bonnke, I could not help but think that I was experiencing a foretaste of another Great Awakening on American soil, as in the days of Charles Finney, John Wesley, Jonathan Edwards, George Whitfield, David Brainard, etc. These were ordinary men, as is Bonnke, but their words thundered with the supernatural presence and power of God. Even while listening to Bonnke deliver his sermon, there was an electricity in the atmosphere that transcended hype—it was the manifest Presence of God gracing his words, that Paul describes in 1 Corinthians 2,

And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of humanwisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)

Signs, Wonders and Healings

Over the two crusades, Christ for the Nations President and Bonnke’s successor, Evangelist Daniel Kolenda, ended each evening by praying for the sick.

What’s wonderful about Bonnke and Kolenda is that they do not classify themselves as Healing evangelists or faith healers. They are soul-winners who pray for the sick expecting what’s promised in Scripture to come to pass. And anyone who is familiar with Bonnke’s history of ministry knows full well that the sick have been healed, the oppressed have been set free from bondage and YES, the dead have been raised!

God cannot help but visit an environment where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is being proclaimed with boldness!

The Next Event

The Good News Crusade is coming to North Carolina in May 2014. Stay tuned for updates on http://www.whatgoodnews.com/

Bonnke is expectant about the future? He enthusiastically commented that “Our God is able. He is capable to bless America with salvation like never before. We don’t look into the past; we look into the future. And the gospel is our nation’s future, in Jesus’ name.”
